MEETINGHOUSE SYMPOSIUM:
Democracy in Crisis
LETTER FROM THE CHAIR
Friends and fellow travelers,

This is not an easy letter from the chair to write. I’ve already written it out five times and deleted it each time to start over. It is hard to find the right tone and message to both comfort and to inspire others not to give up hope, or to continue to fight – especially when we are all exhausted. Take the time you need to grieve and to absorb, but please do not get lost in that grief. Do not let it envelop or overtake you. This world still needs you; and nothing has the right to deny you your capacity for joy and hope. ‘We are not going back’ was not just a campaign slogan, it was a promise. It’s a promise that we make to each other and to ourselves. We – and others before us – have fought too long and sacrificed too much to let this horrid man of all people undercut what we have achieved. We are still in this fight, and we are here when you are ready to join us again.

JOIN US AT OUR NEXT MEETING
Please join us for our next regularly scheduled meeting. We understand that this meeting will probably feel anything but ‘regular’ but we are not giving up or going back. This month we plan to start our meeting with an extra quick dispatch of our business obligations, and as we do EVERY November, hand the meeting over to our members to discuss the election and how we are feeling about the results. We know that THIS year is going to be a doozy, so we offer a safe space to chat among friends and to talk about what’s next.

Because it’s still early day for planning just what we need to do next, for the second half of our meeting we are going to decamp as a group to one of Gloucester’s nearby restaurants to carry on the conversation over drinks and food.
Please join us:

Wednesday, November 13th, 7pm
123 Main Street, Gloucester, 3rd Floor
{Ring buzzer if door closed}
